Caring for the Caregivers

Support for caregivers and the loved ones with mental illness that they care for will be the theme of two fairs we have planned!

The first Caring for the Caregivers fair will take place Sunday, April 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature resources and demonstrations to help caregivers focus on self-care, with resources and demonstrations of practices such as (our very own) breathing meditation, yoga, reiki, journaling, nutrition and cooking. The second fair – Thursday, May 23 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. – will focus on providing additional support for those who are living with mental illness, with information and demonstrations of practices such as behavioral healthcare, art and music therapy and more.

Both events will be hosted at Magnolia Clubhouse, 11101 Magnolia Drive, Cleveland, a community partner of Courage to Caregivers.

We wanted to offer something both for caregivers and those they support. So the first day will be just for the caregivers - to give them ideas and encouragement for their own self-care, which is vital for anyone who wants to be an effective caregiver for others. The second day will showcase ways caregivers can provide further benefits for their loved ones with mental illness.

The Caring for the Caregivers fairs are part of the Courage to Caregivers One-to-One Caregiver Support program, yet, all are welcome to attend! The program is funded in part by Peg’s Foundation, an organization focused on improving the lives of people with serious mental illness by investing in innovative projects in Northeast Ohio.

Both events are free and open to all ages. Feel free to share this with someone you know who might benefit. Hope to see you at one, or both, of the fairs!

Together in caring,

Kristi
