Be Bold … Be Creative … Be YOU!

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.” – Albert Einstein

Time to move on to a new, and fun, theme – creativity and creative expression!

I come from a family of creative people – real artists. I’m blessed that our home is filled with some of their beautiful artwork. Yet, while I’ve never thought of myself as an artist, I do think of myself as being creative – a creative thinker and problem solver. I like to look at things in an out-of-the-box kind of way, and if you think about it, maybe that’s an art form in itself.

I’ve come to appreciate that we’re all artists in our own way. Many people are quick to say, “Oh, I’m not creative.” But you don’t need to have artistic ability to be able to create. Check out the following quote from this article

“Creativity as we call it is inherent in all of us, whether we believe it or not. Search inside yourself, and you will be surprised to see your mind buzzing with ideas. However, it does take a lot of boldness to freely express your ideas and put it in front of the world.”

Creative expression is the action of translating your feelings and emotions into a medium you can either share with others or keep private, if you wish. Creativity can change our perspective, point us down new paths, influence our problem-solving, and inspire us to take risks.

Sometimes, feelings can be difficult to verbalize. Using creative outlets to express those feelings can lift a weight off your heart. Any activity that transfers the energy from your thoughts and feelings into another form can be creative expression. When you’re able to transform your mental process into physical form, you gain control over your emotions.

Creativity can improve your health in ways such as increasing happiness, reducing dementia, improving mental health, boosting your immune system, and making you smarter.

Some common methods of creative expression include art, music, writing, dance, visual arts, drama, and crafts. But, as I indicated above, you don’t have to have what most people think of as “artistic” talent to be creative. Check out how Albert Einstein viewed creativity.

So, get out there today and try something NEW. Take a risk … be brave, bold, and courageous … and put some creative expression into your day.
