The Informed Perspective Podcast - 11/4/25

Care is at the heart of human connection, yet caregiving often happens quietly, unseen, and unsupported. In this episode of Perspectives, we sit down with two inspiring guests who share deeply personal and professional experiences in caregiving, advocacy, and healing:

Rachell Dumas, MSN, RN – After experiencing traumatic maternal loss and health challenges, Rachell founded A Light After Nine, advocating for the care women need through fertility, pregnancy, and beyond... the care that wasn’t available to her.

Kristi Horner – Kristi’s experience caring full-time for her brother during his mental health struggles over a 4 year period, while raising her own family, led her to create Courage to Caregivers, a nonprofit that supports those caring for others through connection and community.

Together, they both open up about the courage, resilience, struggle and compassion that shape the caregiving journey.

We explore:
✨ Maternal health and the importance of self-advocacy
✨ Mental health and the power of community support
✨ The balance between caregiving and self-care
✨ Building resilience and hope for systemic change in healthcare

This conversation is a powerful reminder that care is complicated, often not chosen, yet it’s something that will touch every one of us at some point, whether as a caregiver or receiver.
